This preparation is for doctors exploring PassGP’s ICFRACGP CCE resources. It includes practice in Patient Clinical Encounters and Structured Case Discussions, with a focus on expressing reasoning, communication, management and safety-netting clearly under pressure.

The bank combines Patient Clinical Encounters and Structured Case Discussions with smart search modes, video demonstrations and examiner-led practice. It lists 1,500 questions across 500 cases covering high-yield presentations and examiner domains.

The CCE platform-package description also includes a bespoke one-to-one CCE mock, where you rehearse both station styles with a senior examiner, receive detailed feedback and leave with an improvement plan. The consultation method running through the practice is to frame the task, explain your reasoning and finish with explicit follow-up and safety-netting.

The focus is on making clinical competence explicit: a consultation with a clear task, visible reasoning and a defensible plan. Use reading time, agenda setting and focused history to define what the consultation must achieve, then state red flags and connect your findings to the differential diagnosis and proposed investigations.

Management should be explained rather than left implicit. Practise counselling, checking understanding and clearly describing prevention, follow-up, escalation and safety-netting. The aim is to maintain a coherent consultation structure even when the final diagnosis remains uncertain.

Use reading time to identify the station task and plan your response. Then rehearse a clear chain aloud: connect a history detail or finding to a differential, identify relevant red flags, and explain how those findings guide your investigation and management choices.

Practise the close too: explain management, prevention, follow-up, escalation and safety-netting, then check understanding. This keeps your reasoning connected to what happens next for the patient.
