Your Questions Answered
How should I sequence FRANZCOG Written and Oral examination dates?
Plan the Written and Oral examinations as separate stages. RANZCOG states that the Written examination must be successfully completed before applying for the Oral examination. When considering a later Oral cycle, compare its application closing date with the Written results timetable, not just with the day you sit the Written exam.
Check the official FRANZCOG examinations page for the full eligibility requirements and current cycle details. Passing the Written exam is not the only requirement for Oral eligibility, and a convenient sequence of dates does not itself guarantee acceptance. Use the calendar to discuss a realistic preparation pathway with your supervisor, leaving time for results, application checks and focused Oral practice.
What changes in 2027 should I allow for when planning FRANZCOG exam leave?
RANZCOG has announced that both the FRANZCOG Written and Oral examinations will take place over two days from 2027. Do not carry forward a one-day assumption from an earlier sitting when reviewing the dates on this page. Mark the full published period in your provisional plan and check the candidate instructions for the requirements that apply to your examination.
The official FRANZCOG examinations page also describes remote-proctored Written delivery in 2027 and continued Oral delivery at the Assessment Learning and Examination Centre in Melbourne. Those arrangements create different planning tasks: checking the Written technical requirements versus considering Oral travel and accommodation. Confirm the current delivery guidance before committing funds, and organise your revision around the format for your own cycle.
Does submitting a FRANZCOG expression of interest confirm my examination place?
No. RANZCOG’s published application process separates the online expression of interest, eligibility checking and payment of examination fees. The College checks eligibility after applications close and sends an outcome letter once those checks are finalised. The current guidance says this occurs within six weeks of closing, and examination fees must then be paid within seven days of receiving the eligibility outcome to finalise the application.
Use the official FRANZCOG application instructions to track each step rather than treating the first submission as the end of the process. Applications close at 5:00 pm Melbourne time, and late applications are not accepted. Keep copies of correspondence, monitor your email and set reminders for any payment deadline supplied with your outcome.
Where should I confirm FRANZCOG results dates if this page still shows TBC?
Check the current Dates and Registration section on the RANZCOG FRANZCOG examinations page for your exact Written or Oral cycle. If this summary still shows TBC, follow the College’s latest published date and your candidate communications when planning your next step. Keep the result-release milestone separate from the examination date and from any later application deadline you are considering.
RANZCOG also advises candidates of results timing at the pre-examination Q&A webinar. Results are accessed through Integrate using your College login, and the College recommends checking access before release day. Add that login check to your calendar so avoidable account problems do not complicate results day. If published information or candidate communications appear inconsistent, ask the Examinations team to confirm rather than guessing.
