A/Prof George Eskander is a Perth-based healthcare executive, clinician and academic with more than 15 years of international leadership experience. His work spans executive health-system management, clinical governance, medical education and digital health reform.
He is the WA Health Chief Clinical Operations Officer, an Adjunct Clinical Associate Professor at Curtin University, former RACGP National Assessment Advisor, and founder of PassGP. He can also be found on LinkedIn and the Google Knowledge Graph.
During his tenure at the RACGP, he led national assessment reform, quality-assurance processes and examiner training. He has also examined for the AMC, PLAB (UK) and other postgraduate programs, contributing to assessment standards across two continents.
A Lifetime of Public Service
George has held senior executive appointments across Western Australia’s public and private health systems, including Executive Area Director of Clinical Services and Group Chief Medical Officer for the North Metropolitan Health Service (NMHS), Acting Executive Director of the Women and Newborn Health Service (WNHS), and Executive Director of Medical Services for multiple St John of God (SJOG) hospitals. He has also served as a practitioner member of the WA Board of AHPRA and as an advisor to the UK Care Quality Commission and General Medical Council.
He is a Council Member of the Postgraduate Medical Council of Western Australia (PMCWA), a Senior Medical Assessor with the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards (ACHS), a non-executive director on several boards, and a specialist procedural general practitioner.
George contributes to teaching and research through his role at Curtin University and his ongoing work in health-system reform and clinician wellbeing. He is a co-author of “Manifesting Change: An organisation’s approach to burnout, recruitment and retention of junior doctors in Western Australia”, published in the Australasian Health Review (2024).
He has presented nationally and internationally on digital health, leadership, and workforce wellbeing, including at the BMJ International Forum on Quality and Safety in Healthcare (2025) and the RACMA AIDH Leadership in Digital Health Annual Conference 2025.
His leadership has been recognised through multiple state and national awards.
