A/Prof George Eskander served as a Practitioner Board Member on the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA) for over seven years.
As a long-serving Practitioner Member of the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA), A/Prof Eskander regularly engaged with high-stakes matters relating to governance, professional misconduct, unethical conduct, and public safety breaches.
He was called upon to represent SAT hearings involving serious allegations, including misleading the Board, breaches of professional standards, and failures in clinical care. His role demanded a nuanced understanding of legal frameworks, practitioner regulation, and the ethical obligations of the medical profession - responsibilities he carried out with diligence and impartiality.

George brings deep experience in medical regulation and quality assurance. He served as a Medical Advisor and Inspector with the UK’s Care Quality Commission (CQC), and was a member of the General Medical Council (GMC) Curriculum Advisory Group, where he contributed to national medical education standards.
Beyond his regulatory experience, George has held senior leadership roles across WA Health, including Chief Operating Officer and Executive Director of Medical Services positions. He was also the National Assessment Advisor for the RACGP, where he championed exam integrity and quality assurance. He is an Adjunct Clinical Associate Professor at Curtin University.
He is a Council Member of the Postgraduate Medical Council of Western Australia (PMCWA), a Senior Medical Assessor with the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards (ACHS), a non-executive director on several boards, and a specialist procedural general practitioner. His roles reflect his expertise in governance, system assurance and accountability.
